SYNOPSIS: While aboard the Brig Pilgrim, holding lookout for an “improbable shark” that could make or break her struggling career, Kathryn Elizabeth, a marine biologist, encounters an assemblage of characters — an anti-scientific skeptic from Beijing, a Shakespearean actor who won’t break character, an ex-lover, and a stranger who requests her hand in marriage—all of whom begin to blur the line between reality and an immersive drama. Kathryn must learn to accept the role of fiction and performance in upholding the order of science and reason, or else succumb to the ship’s escalating absurdity.
